NEW DELHI: Leader of Congress Udit Raj Thursday first deleted and then restored a tweet questioning Government of Uttar Pradeshis spending on the Kumbh mela amid attacks by the BJP, which was looking for a response from Priyanka gandhi and your party on the subject.
“I am restoring my tweet and I am ready to debate. Whenever I comment on any political issue, I tag the INC. This was my personal opinion and the party was not tagged,” Udit Raj said while restoring the tweet.
“The party is being drawn into this issue for no reason. Dr. Ambedkar believed that religion and politics should not mix,” said the congressional leader while countering the BJP attack for his tweet.
“There are no teachings or rituals that can be funded by the government. The state does not have its own religion. The UP government spent 4200 crore to organize the Kumbh Mela in Allahabad and that was also wrong,” said the congressional leader in a tweet in the morning.
When asked about his tweet, Raj told ANI: “Religion must be separated from political power and the state must not interfere with, encourage or discourage any religion. In this context, I have cited the example of Kumbh Mela spending because it was huge. ”
He asked why there should be controversies, conflicts, conflicts or communal disturbances over one religion favored by the government over another. “So let’s stop at all religions,” Unit Raj said.
BJP leader and Minister of State (MoS), Finance, Anurag Thakur criticized Udit Raj for his comments, saying that events like the Kumbh mela provide opportunities for the government to develop infrastructure.
“I believe that some people remain solely in the confines of politics. They have no ideas and no will to develop. The government has to develop infrastructure and provide facilities to millions of devotees who visit the Kumbh Mela. When the government provides facilities, it helps in tourism, “Thakur said.
Uttar Pradesh MSMEs Minister Sidharth Nath Singh said Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and the Congress party should answer whether the government should spend on the Kumbh or not.
“As far as BJP is concerned, we are proud to have spent on Kumbh 2019. It was known all over the world. The next Kumbh will be bigger and we will spend double the amount. It is the promise for those who wish to attend the Kumbh, “said Singh.
State Minister Brijesh Pathak said that Kumbh is a global issue now, it is simply not restricted to the Uttar Pradesh government. “One should not comment on an event of this type, which is attended by millions around the world,” said Pathak.
