Congress leader Ahmed Patel, a close associate of Sonia Gandhi, died in a Gurgaon hospital on Wednesday morning at the age of 71. The political veteran had been in Medanta Hospital since his health deteriorated after a COVID-19

Patel’s death comes just two days after the passing of another congressional leader and former Assam chief minister, Tarun Gogoi. Gogoi, t84 had also tested positive for COVID-19 in August and was transferred again to the hospital, on November 2, after complaining of dyspnea.
