Aurangabad:
Former Maharashtra Minister and Congressional Leader Rajendra Darda has said that actress Urmila Matondkar’s decision to switch to Shiv Sena is a loss for Congress, and it is about time the party needed to do some introspection.
Actress-turned-politician Urmila Matondkar, who unsuccessfully contested the 2019 Lok Sabha elections with a run for Congress, joined Shiv Sena on Tuesday.
In a tweet Tuesday night, Darda said: “Confident and flamboyant actress @UrmilaMatondkar switching to @ShivSena is a sure loss for @INCIndia.”
“Well versed in Marathi, she will certainly be an asset to Sena. It is time for Congress to introspect and for ShivSena to rejoice !!”
Matondkar, 46, resigned from Congress in September 2019, nearly five months after being defeated by BJP’s Gopal Shetty from the North Mumbai Lok Sabha seat.

He joined the Shiv Sena in the presence of Maharashtra party chairman and chief minister Uddhav Thackeray at his “Matoshri” residence in the Bandra area of Mumbai on Tuesday.
Sena sources said the party recently sent Urmila Matondkar’s name to Governor BS Koshyari for nomination to the Legislative Council for the governor’s fee.
