Congress wins 620 seats in municipal body polls in Rajasthan – jaipur


Congress has won 620 seats at the polls for the 50 municipal agencies of the state.

The State Elections Commission released on Sunday the results of the general elections held for member positions in 50 municipal bodies (43 municipalities and 7 city councils) in 12 districts of the state.

Ayukta PS Mehra reported that on December 11, the voting of 50 municipal organs of the state took place, in which 79.90 percent of the voters cast their vote.

Out of 1,775 chambers of all organs, 620 candidates for Congress, 548 from the BJP, seven from the BSP, two from the CPI and CPI (M), one from the RLP and 595 Independent candidates won.

“My sincere congratulations and best wishes to all the candidates who have won the municipal and council elections. I express my gratitude to the people of the state who expressed their confidence in the Congress party and brought the Congress victory, ”Rajasthan’s Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said in a tweet (roughly translated from Hindi).

“I thank all the workers in Congress for their hard work and congratulations on the victory,” Gehlot added.
