At a crucial meeting between Congress President Sonia Gandhi and dissidents along with senior leaders on Saturday it was decided to hold a ‘Chintan Shivir’ (brainstorming session) to discuss the way forward and the necessary steps to strengthen the party.
Addressing the media after a four-hour marathon meeting, Congress leader Pawan Kumar Bansal said the discussions were mainly focused on strengthening the party.
He said that the process for conducting organizational elections, including the post of party chairman and the Congressional Working Committee (CWC) has already been launched and the central electoral authority (CEA) is working on it.
“There is already an electoral process underway. There is an agenda before the party. The CEA is working on that, ”he said.
Bansal said that Sonia Gandhi told the leaders that they are all a “very big family” and that they should strive to strengthen the party.
He said that Rahul Gandhi also spoke on similar lines.
Bansal also said that no one in the party, including dissidents, has any problem with Rahul Gandhi’s leadership.
Maharashtra’s former chief minister and one of the 23 dissidents, Prithviraj Chavan, told reporters that a chintan shivir (brainstorming session) on the Pachmarhi and Shimla pattern would soon take place.
He said the meeting was constructive and that more such interactions will take place in the future.
