Congress gives notice of postponement in Parliament for ‘Chinese surveillance’


On Tuesday, Congress issued a postponement motion notice in Parliament over a media report claiming that China is monitoring more than 10,000 Indians, including several political leaders.

The notice was presented by two congressional MPs, Manickam Tagore and Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, demanding a debate on the issue.

Tagore cited a news report published in a major Indian daily that claimed that the Chinese government and military are monitoring thousands of Indians, including politicians, bureaucrats, journalists and people from academic fields in its global database. of “foreign targets”.

Congressional leader Shashi Tharoor called it a “deep mining operation” and spoke on the matter yesterday. “The Chinese authorities looking at the details of 10,000 Indians is no small thing,” she said.

Congress also urged the Center to intensify its cybersecurity efforts to confront China’s intentions.

Parliament’s monsoon session started on Monday and is scheduled to conclude on October 1 with no days off.

Both Houses of Parliament will sit for four hours a day adhering to the precautionary measures against Covid-19.
