NEW DELHI: The Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Dr. Harsh Vardhan, said Thursday that he was confident that the Covid-19 vaccine would be ready in the next three to four months, adding that the priority of providing the same to the Indians 135 crore would be based on scientific evaluation.
The minister today addressed the FICCI FLO webinar on ‘The changing paradigm of healthcare during and after Covid’.
“I’m sure the Covid-19 vaccine will be ready in the next three to four months. The priority for the vaccine will be designed based on scientific data. Health workers and crown warriors will naturally be prioritized, followed. by the elderly and disease-prone people Very detailed planning is underway for the dissemination of the vaccine An electronic vaccine intelligence platform has been created to analyze the vaccine plan. the vaccine will be comprehensive once it is available to the public. Hopefully, 2021 should be a better year for all of us, “said the Minister of Health.
Praising the efforts of the central government, the minister said that some “very bold steps” were taken to combat the pandemic in recent months.
“The Janta curfew was a very innovative and unique experiment by our Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It had the participation of citizens across the country. The decision to impose a lockdown followed by an unlock was some bold decisions by the central government during the pandemic. We have handled it very well, “said the minister.
“The government has been very proactive in its response to this fight. Airports, seaports and land borders were put under surveillance for Covid-19 in time,” he added.
Reporting on the journey of the past 11 months, the minister said that India was among the leading countries in controlling the impact of the pathogen in a short period of time.
“Initially we faced a shortage of PPE equipment, ventilators and N-95 masks. But within a few months, we were able to export these things to different parts of the world. Our scientists are now far ahead of many others globally in their research on the vaccine. In a couple of months, we should be able to produce a vaccine for Covid-19 infection. Our performance has been excellent in all parameters established by the World Health Organization, we have the highest recovery rate and the Lower case fatality rate. We have 2,115 labs in every corner of the country for Covid testing. There are over 20 lakhs of dedicated Covid beds. It shows that whenever India decides to excel at something, it does so, “said the Minister of Health .
Sharing Prime Minister Modi’s vision, he said that the Center will deliver a new India to citizens in 2022.
“We will deliver a new India in 2022 according to the dream of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Only humanism and nationalism would prevail in this new India as envisioned by our Prime Minister,” concluded Harsh Vardhan.
