The self-described godman Namdeo Tyagi, popularly known as Computer Baba, was arrested along with his six associates on Sunday in preventive action during the demolition of an alleged illegal construction at his ashram in Madhya Pradesh’s Indore, PTI reported.
The Indore district administration demolished an “illegal construction” belonging to it on Sunday. “Six people have been arrested while trying to obstruct the demolition process,” ANI said, citing Additional District Magistrate (ADM), Indore.
Indore administration officials said that during an investigation, illegal construction and encroachments were found on two acres of government land at his ashram premises, which are spread over 40 acres of land and the market value is estimated at Rs 80 crore.
“The preventive arrests were made under Section 151 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) during the demolition of an illegal construction on government land at the Tyagi ashram in Jamburdi Hapsi village on the outskirts of Indore. Tyagi and six of his associates have been sent to jail, ”the PTI quoted Police Superintendent (Western Region) Maheshchandra Jain as saying.
