Comedian Bharti Singh was arrested on Saturday by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) after being questioned by the agency in connection with a drug-related investigation.
The agency said 86.5 grams of cannabis were recovered from Singh’s home when NCB detectives conducted a raid there. “Both Bharti and her husband Harsh Limbachiya accepted the consumption of Ganja. While Bharti Singh has been arrested, the examination of Harsh Limbachiya is underway, ”NCB officials said according to the ANI news agency.
The couple was questioned by the OCN on Saturday. The NCB carried out a raid on his home in Mumbai.
The search was conducted as part of the NCB’s ongoing investigation into alleged drug use in the entertainment industry, an agency official said.
Singh has appeared on many comedy and reality television shows. He has also hosted some of these shows.
This is the latest in a series of raids carried out on residences of big names associated with Bollywood. Actor Arjun Rampal and film producer Firoz Nadiadwala were also raided by the agency earlier this month in connection with a drug investigation.
The NCB launched an investigation into the use and possession of drugs by individuals in the Hindi film industry after receiving an official communication from the Directorate of Enforcement (ED), in which there were several talks related to consumption, acquisition, the use and transportation of drugs in connection with the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput.
Rhea Chakraborty, Rajput’s girlfriend, was arrested on 9 September and later released on bail by the agency after spending nearly a month in jail on charges of procuring drugs for him.
