Former union minister Dilip Ray was sentenced to three years in prison by a Delhi court on Monday in a coal scam case related to irregularities in the allocation of a Jharkhand coal block in 1999.
Ray was Minister of State (Coal) in the government of Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
Special Judge Bharat Parashar also granted three years in prison to each of the two top Coal Ministry officials at the time, Pradip Kumar Banerjee and Nitya Nand Gautam, and Castron Technologies Ltd (CTL) director Mahendra Kumar Agarwalla.
The court also imposed a fine of Rs 10 lakh on each of them.
In addition, the court imposed Rs 60 lakh on CLT and Rs 10 lakh on Castron Mining Ltd (CML), also found guilty in the case.
