Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday praised the Delhi Model of Covid-19 Treatment and Containment, saying that the aggressive tests being carried out in the national capital are unmatched not only in the country, but also in the world. . At first, Kejriwal also revealed that so far more than 1.15 lakh people have been treated under Delhi’s home isolation program, of which 30 have died.
The prime minister addressed a special one-day session of the Delhi Assembly. He began by recalling the early days of the Covid-19 pandemic, after the first case was reported in Delhi on March 2. He said Delhi, like Mumbai, was badly hit when 32,000 people returned to the capital from other countries.

“And you can see that most of these people must already be infected. There were between 5,000 and 6,000 cases in Delhi when the pandemic started, ”he said.
Praising the Delhi Model, Kejriwal said the “test, treat, trace and isolate” strategy worked “because of the two million people in Delhi.”
“Today, Delhi performs the maximum number of tests in the world. About 60,000 tests are carried out daily, which is 3,000 tests per million people … while the national average is 819, ”said the prime minister.
Kejriwal went on to compare Delhi with other countries and claimed that no other state or city in the world has assessed 10% of its total population. “We have tested about 2.1 million people in Delhi so far, which is 11% of the population of two million in Delhi,” he said.
He said it was the Delhi government that “introduced” home isolation and also opened the “world’s first plasma bank” at the Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences.

“We have treated some 115,254 people in home isolation so far, of whom 16,568 remain in isolation and 96,288 have recovered. Only 30 people have died (among those who are in home isolation), ”he said.
Badarpur BJP MLA and opposition leader Ramvir Singh Bidhuri said that after Kejriwal and Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia made panicked statements that Delhi would hit 5 lakh of cases in July, the Union Interior Minister, Amit Shah, was forced to take over the management of Covid in Delhi.
“Shah organized 20,000 new beds, provided ventilators, oxygen cylinders, EPP oximeter kits, etc. to the Delhi government hospitals. The Center provided door-to-door testing and antigen testing was made available at 169 locations. The cost of testing and treatment in private facilities was reduced, ”he said.
Bidhuri said Prime Minister Narendra Modi provided free food rations to 72 lakhs of poor people in Delhi over the past three months. “And the Delhi government is sticking Kejriwal’s photo on these kits and distributing them to people who call them ‘CM aid package,'” Bidhuri said.
Kejriwal replied: “I always say that the credit is yours and the responsibility is mine. Whenever Delhi faces trouble, the responsibility will be mine. Delhi’s Covid story is the result of teamwork. I want to thank the Center for helping us when we need them. They gave us PPE kits, oxygen cylinders, and test kits. No government can handle it all alone. Society stepped forward to help us; the two million people of Delhi; Many social organizations and medical associations helped us, ”said the prime minister.
