CM Kejriwal had said last week that the Covid-19 situation was deteriorating in the national capital due to increased air pollution. He appealed to people not to set off firecrackers on Diwali and join him and his ministers in worship and prayer.
On Friday, CM Kejriwal said his government planned to take action next week to address the problem of increasing Covid-19 cases in the capital. He also said the situation is expected to be brought under control in another seven to ten days.
“The Covid-19 situation in Delhi is worrying. Next week, we’ll take a few more steps to address it. The situation should be under control in 7-10 days, ”Kejriwal told a video news conference.
The Delhi government decided to ban all types of firecrackers in the city until November 30 after the Prime Minister reviewed the Covid-19 situation on November 5.
The Delhi Police have formed special teams and flight squads under each police station to prevent the sale and popping of cookies on Diwali. Police have seized nearly 3,000 firecrackers and arrested 47 people in the past 10 days for selling or popping firecrackers, authorities told HT.
