The common law admission test, CLAT 2020 is scheduled to take place today, September 28, 2020. A plea was filed in the Supreme Court challenging the SOPs established by the Consortium that do not allow COVID19 positive patients to present for the exam. The Supreme Court has refused to allow the students, but has granted an exception.

Minutes before the start of the exam, a special petition was moved in the Supreme Court to allow students suffering from COVID19 to take the exam in the isolation center. Taking notice of the matter, the Supreme Court allowed the petitioner, but refused to approve a general order before the examination.

In approving the order, the supreme court noted that there was less time to discuss and approve a blanket order. However, the bank has allowed the petitioner to appear for examination from an isolation center. The hard copy of the order would be brought to the examination center and the candidate would be allowed to appear in the isolation rooms.

Attorney Garima Prashad and Attorney Sumit Chander who appeared before the petitioners argued that there are many students, but the court noted that there was no time as the examination should begin shortly. The consortium had published SOPs for taking the CLAT exam that clearly state that COVID19 positive students will not be able to sit for the exam.
