NEW DELHI: Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted Civil Services Day on Tuesday, saying that, as health professionals, officials have also been leading the fight against the coronavirus.
“On Civil Services Day, I congratulate all of our country’s officials for effectively and efficiently translating policies into programs,” the vice president tweeted.

His high professional standards have kept us well in times of peace, as well as in times of crisis like the current one, Naidu said.
“Our officials along with doctors and medical professionals have been leading India’s fight against COVID-19 … We are grateful to all those warriors who have risked their lives from infection to protect us all,” he said. ..
The duration of the fight against the coronavirus is still uncertain, he noted.
“I am confident that our experienced and capable public officials will help the nation win the battle,” said the vice president.
Prime Minister Modi appreciated his efforts to ensure that India successfully defeats Covid-19.
“They are working 24 hours, helping those in need and making sure everyone is healthy,” he said.
“On Civil Services Day, a tribute to the great Sardar Patel, who envisioned our administrative framework and emphasized building a compassionate, progress-oriented system,” Modi tweeted.

He also shared his 2018 Civil Services Day speech in which he spoke about the appreciation, evaluation and introspection of the bureaucracy.
According to the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Claims, Civil Services Day is celebrated on April 21, since this day in 1947, the Prime Minister of the interior of the country, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, addressed those responsible for Administrative Services officials. He referred to public officials as the “Indian steel framework”.
