The Center on Sunday issued guidelines for patients recovering from the deadly coronavirus disease.

“After the acute illness from Covid-19, recovered patients may continue to report a wide variety of signs and symptoms including fatigue, body aches, cough, sore throat, shortness of breath, etc.,” said the Ministry of Health in an ad that included chyawanprash, yoga, pranayama, and walks among the suggestions.

On an individual level, the government advised patients to continue to follow appropriate Covid-19 behavior, such as wearing a face mask, washing hands, maintaining social distance, and other respiratory hygiene measures.

He also suggested doing regular housework “if health permits.” “Professional work should be resumed in a phased manner,” the ministry said in the notice.

Emphasizing the need for self-monitoring of health at home, the ministry recommended that people recovering from Covid-19 take their temperature and monitor their blood pressure regularly. He also asked them to take oxygen readings on the pulse oximeter on the advice of doctors.

Diabetic patients have been advised to check blood sugar levels regularly.

At the community level, the government advised people who recovered from Covid-19 to share their experiences with their friends and family and spread awareness about the virus.

“Sharing these experiences on social media,” the ministry said, “will help raise awareness, dispel myths and stigmas.”

“Support community self-help groups, civil society organizations and qualified professionals for the recovery and rehabilitation process (medical, social, occupational, livelihood),” he also said.

The ministry further advised patients to seek mental health support if necessary.

The post-Covid management protocol problem arises when the country is registering the highest number of daily cases. In the past seven days, India has been recording more than 90,000 daily cases, bringing the tally to more than 46 lakh-mark.
