Chennai:

The husband of the Tamil TV star, Chitra, is being questioned by police in Chennai for a second day, sources said on Friday, as the actor’s mother accused him of beating her daughter to death.

However, police sources said that according to the post-mortem report, the actor had died by suicide and that financial problems emerged as a possible reason.

Mahesh Kumar Aggarwal, Police Commissioner, said: “We are investigating the cause.”

The family has yet to file a new complaint in the case of their charges against Chitra’s husband.

“The mother’s accusation appears to be just an outburst,” said an officer, requesting not to be identified.

Chitra, 29, was found dead in a hotel on the outskirts of Chennai on Wednesday morning.

The actress recently married and stayed with her husband at the hotel near the capital of Tamil Nadu.
