Chiranjeevi praises KCR for TRS manifesto in GHMC polls and receives criticism from BJP supporters

Popular Telugu actor and former Union Minister K Chiranjeevi on Tuesday praised Telangana President Rashtra Samithi and Prime Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, also known as KCR, for announcing various sops for the film industry in his party’s manifesto for the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation elections.

Chiranjeevi’s appreciation for KCR comes within three days to his younger brother Pawan Kalyan, also a popular actor and chairman of the Jana Sena Party, who extends his support for the Bharatiya Janata Party in the GHMC elections.

Both the TRS and the BJP are involved in a bitter struggle to seize power in the GHMC.

Chiranjeevi, along with other Telugu film industry officials, met with the chief minister on Sunday and discussed the issues facing the industry, including producers and distributors, due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

On Monday, KCR announced in the party’s manifesto that the TRS government would reimburse the state GST for low-budget films (up to Rs 10 million), allow cinemas to increase the number of shows per day, and make ticket prices more flexible. after losses suffered by the industry that has had a trial in the last eight months.

Thanking KCR’s gesture, Chiranjeevi tweeted: “A sincere thanks to the Honorable CM Shri #KCR garu for the measures to help the film industry. Be confident that these compassionate measures will surely go a long way toward reviving the industry that was hit by the pandemic and putting it back on track for progress. #TelanganaCMO ”.

Chiranjeevi’s son Ram Charan, who is also a popular actor, joined his father in thanking the Telangana government for the relief measures that will go a long way towards restoring normalcy in the Telugu film industry.

Chiranjeevi’s appreciation for KCR drew criticism from fans of his younger brother Pawan Kalyan and the ranks of BJP.

“This is not the time to support KCR when elections are taking place, bro. If possible, you should support your brother or keep quiet. But please don’t get carried away by cheap politics, ”a Pawan Kalyan supporter commented in Chiranjeevi’s tweet.

Another Pawan fan commented that it was enough for Chiranjeevi to be happy with the benefits of the film industry. “Please think of the common man, who suffered the most. You should be concerned about the problems that ordinary people face, not just the film industry, ”he said.

“It’s okay if the government spills fools on people in the film industry. But what about the lives of people who watch movies? It is thanks to his hard-earned money that the film industry survives. But you forget your role in the elections once every five years, ”observed another Pawan Kalyan fan.

Chiranjeevi made an unsuccessful attempt at politics by floating the Praja Rajyam Party in 2008, but was forced to merge it with Congress in 2012. He became a member of the Rajya Sabha and the Union Minister of State for Tourism in cabinet. by Manmohan Singh. After the congressional party debacle in 2014 polls, Chiranjeevi quietly distanced himself from politics.
