Chirag Paswan says if Nitish Kumar wins, Bihar will be on the brink of ruin

'Once jealous of PM, and now ...': Chirag Paswan attacks Nitish Kumar

Patna:

A victory by Bihar’s chief minister Nitish Kumar in the upcoming assembly elections will be disastrous for the state, Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) head Chirag Paswan said today. He attacked the development record of the state government saying Kumar could return to rule only by highlighting the work done under Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the past six years.

“If the current Prime Minister wins this election again by mistake, our state will lose. Our state will once again be on the brink of ruin,” Paswan said. “There was a time when you didn’t want to see Modi out of jealousy … today you earn applause by falsely claiming the Center’s works as your own.”

The LJP recently resigned from the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), of which Kumar’s Janata Dal-United (JDU) is the main ally in Bihar. Paswan’s party is running candidates only against the JDU and not against the BJP, the other important component of the ruling coalition.

The LJP chief, who has criticized Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for a while, also launched some other charges today.

“I wonder how he promotes castes. It is not appropriate to imagine Bihar developing under the leadership of a person promoting communalism,” Paswan said in launching his party’s manifesto.

The LJP manifesto, he claimed, is based on the vision of “Bihar first, Bihari first.” “It will solve various problems that the people of Bihar have been facing for a long time,” he said.

Among other things, the document promises a web portal where employers and job seekers can connect. It also offers a youth commission and separate women’s toilets at the bloc and panchayat headquarters, as well as various markets.

“All contracted state government employees will be regularized. To avoid floods and droughts, all the state’s rivers will be connected by canals,” the manifesto says.

Elections for the 243-seat Bihar Assembly will be held on October 28, November 3 and November 7. The results will be declared three days later.
