Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison lashed out at the Chinese government over a tweet from a Chinese official showing a false image of an Australian soldier appearing to kill a child. Zhao Lijian, a spokesman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, had posted a tweet with a caption that read: ‘Shocked by the killing of Afghan civilians and prisoners by Australian soldiers. We strongly condemn such acts and ask that you take responsibility for them. ‘ The Australian Prime Minister called the tweet absolutely outrageous and said it cannot be justified in any way. ‘The Chinese government should be totally ashamed of this post. It diminishes them in the eyes of the world. I want to make a couple of points on this. Australia seeks an apology from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Chinese government, for this scandalous publication. There are undoubtedly tensions between China and Australia, but that is not how they are handled, ‘Morrison said during a news conference. “It is a false image and a terrible insult to our great defense forces,” added the Australian Prime Minister.
