Last week, India had said that a complete withdrawal of troops in eastern Ladakh can only be achieved through mutually agreed reciprocal actions and also highlighted the resolution of border incidents with China in the past through diplomacy.
The spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MEA), Anurag Srivastava, said that the complete disconnection requires the redeployment of troops by each side to their regular posts on their respective sides of the Royal Line of Control (LAC) and this can only be done through mutually agreed actions. .
Meanwhile, China said that India should look at the “big picture” of bilateral relations and work with it and take concrete steps to bring the relationship back to the “correct path of normal development”. Beijing also said New Delhi should put the border issue in an appropriate position in this “big picture” and “avoid errors of judgment.”
On July 5, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi held a nearly two-hour telephone conversation on ways to resolve the dispute.
The formal troop withdrawal process began a day after the Doval-Wang talks. Both Doval and Wang are special representatives for the boundary talks.
