China claims Arunachal, says it did not “kidnap its own citizens” | India News

GUWAHATI / NEW DELHI: China on Monday denied knowledge of the five missing youths from Arunachal pradesh allegedly kidnapped by the People’s Liberation Army.
“China’s position in the eastern sector of the China-India border, or Zangnan (the southern part of China’s Xizang), is consistent and clear. The Chinese government has never recognized the so-called ‘Arunachal Pradesh’. I am not aware of the situation you mentioned, ”said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian.
By reiterating China’s official position, the spokesman was suggesting that it could not “kidnap” its own citizens.
China’s reiteration of its position on Arunachal, amid the military clash in eastern Ladakh, was in response to a question in the daily briefing about a tweet from the Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports. Kiren rijiju in which he had said that the Indian army had sent a “hotline message” to the PLA about the missing persons and a response was expected.

While there was no response from the Indian authorities, official sources in New Delhi said that India’s position has always been that Arunachal Pradesh is an integral and inalienable part of India. The youths were hired by the Army as porters.
Two of his friends who managed to return home told the villagers that the five had been kidnapped in the Sera-7 area, an army patrol area located on the border about 12 km north of Nacho, in the Upper Subansiri youth home district.
Relatives of the missing have claimed that they were abducted by the PLA near the border in the Upper Subansiri district. The Arunachal Pradesh government launched an investigation into Nacho to verify the messages on social media from the young people’s families about her kidnapping.
