New Delhi, September 15

India today blamed China for violating all border agreements between the two countries and causing the resulting outbreak along the Royal Line of Control (LAC) in Ladakh.

Speaking at the Lok Sabha, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said that India, however, was ready to solve all problems through dialogue. At the same time, he assured the Chamber that the country is prepared to face all contingencies. “No one should doubt our determination to safeguard our borders,” he said.

Unusual confrontation

There have also been protracted clashes in LAC in the past, but the situation is different this year in terms of the scale of troops involved and the number of sticking points. – Rajnath Singh, Minister of Defense

Referring to the Galwan clash on June 15, he said that Indian soldiers had inflicted costs, including casualties, on the Chinese side. “China cannot unilaterally change the status quo of LAC. The accumulation of troops by China (since April) goes against the pacts of 1993 and 1996, which require strict respect and observance of LAC. The disturbance of peace along the border will surely have implications, ”the minister said in what was seen as a message to China that hostilities and trade cannot go hand in hand. While the Indian forces never violated the border pacts, a similar reciprocity did not come from China, he said, listing recent sticking points in eastern Ladakh, including Gogra, Kongka La, and the northern and southern shores of Pangong Tso.

China has currently mobilized a large number of troops and weaponry throughout LAC, as well as in deep areas. India had also carried out appropriate counterattacks, he noted.

Referring to his meeting with his Chinese counterpart General Wei Fenghe in Moscow on September 4 and the subsequent meeting between the foreign ministers of the two countries, Rajnath Singh said that India had adhered to three key principles: both sides must strictly respect and observe ALC; neither party should attempt to alter the status quo and all agreements should be honored.

On recent incidents along the southern shore of Pangong Tso, a 135-kilometer glacial melt lake, the minister said that the Chinese side carried out provocative military maneuvers on the night of August 29 and 30 in an attempt to change the status. quo.
