Given that India will be a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for two years, Modi is likely to present India’s 5-S approach to follow: Samman (respect), Samvad (dialogue), Sahyog (cooperation), Shanti (peace) and Samriddhi (prosperity).
The Prime Minister is currently scheduled as the first speaker on the morning of September 26.
The theme of the 75th United Nations General Assembly is “The future we want, the United Nations we need, reaffirming our collective commitment to multilateralism, confronting Covid-19 through effective multilateral action.”
Since this year’s UNGA is taking place in the context of the pandemic, it is mainly conducted through virtual mode. The Prime Minister’s speech will be a pre-recorded video statement, broadcast in the UNGA room in New York.
The sources said that one of the priority themes for India during the 75th session of the UNGA will be “to promote the strengthening of global action against terrorism” and “India will promote greater transparency in the process of inclusion and exclusion of entities and individuals in the sanctions committees “. ”.
The sources said that India, which is one of the countries that contributes the most troops, will seek to participate intensively in the completion of the mandates of the UN peacekeeping missions. India’s active participation in issues related to sustainable development and climate change will also be broadcast, sources said.
By promoting its role as a network healthcare provider, India will highlight the contribution to global cooperation against Covid-19 by helping more than 150 countries and being a pharmacy for the world.
As 2020 is the 25th anniversary of the Fourth World Conference on Women, India will reiterate its commitments and achievements in women-led development. The Prime Minister is also likely to emphasize India’s role as a South-South development partner, especially in the context of the India-UN Development Partnership Fund.
It is also likely to express Delhi’s commitment to the idea of a global partnership under SDG 17, including climate change: Foundation of the International Solar Alliance.
