So far, 30 members of the security personnel have been injured, said the deputy inspector general of the state (anti-naxal operations), OP Pal. “Among the martyred personnel, one belonged to the CoBRA unit and two each belonged to the DRG and the ‘Bastariya’ battalion of the CRPF,” said the DIG.
He said seven injured people were flown to Raipur and were admitted to hospitals there, while 23 others are receiving treatment at the Bijapur district hospital.

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel condemned the incident, saying that the martyrdom of the Jawans will not be in vain and that the anti-Naxal operation will escalate, an official statement said.
“Our jaws have shown exemplary courage in inflicting massive damage to Naxales (in this incident). The operation against the naxals will be intensified ”, said the CM.

Expressing his condolences, Baghel ordered officials to ensure the best treatment for injured jaws, according to the statement.
Union Interior Minister Amit Shah also mourned the death of security personnel, saying: “I bow to the sacrifices of our brave security personnel, martyred while fighting the Maoists in Chhattisgarh. The nation will never forget their courage. My condolences go out to their families. We will continue our fight against these enemies of peace and progress. ”
This was the second major Naxal incident in the state in the past 10 days.
On March 23, five DRG staff members were killed when Naxals blew up a bus carrying security personnel with an improvised explosive device in Narayanpur district.
On March 21 last year, 17 security personnel, including 12 from DRG, were killed in a Naxal ambush in the Minpa area of Sukma district.
