NEW DELHI: The Indian Cricket Board (BCCI) on Thursday named former India pacemaker Chetan Sharma, Abey Kuruvilla and Debashish Mohanty as national selectors. Chetan sharma will replace Sunil joshi as chairman of the senior national selection committee. Joshi and Harvinder Singh, who were appointed selectors in February this year, will continue in their functions.
Chetan Sharma, Kuruvilla and Mohanty will represent the North, West and East zones. TOI understands the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC), which comprises Madan Lal, RP Singh and Sulakshana Naik had a hard time choosing between former India leader Ajit Agarkar and Chetan as the main coach. Mohanty has been promoted to the senior committee from being the head of selection for the junior committee. Interestingly, the committee will be reviewed by CAC after one year, even if they are eligible for a term of at least three years.

TOI had reported on November 15 that Mohanty could be a surprise entry and that could lead to another contender, Ranadeb Bose, finding a place on the youth selection committee.
Chetan Sharma was appointed as the head coach as he played more test matches than others on the panel. Agarkar has played 191 ODI and 26 tests, while Chetan has played 23 tests and 65 ODI. Kuruvilla has played 10 events and 25 ODIs, while Mohanty has represented India in two events and 45 ODIs.
