Hathras: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Amit Malviya has demanded questioning of the brother of the Hathras gang rape victim, stating that several phone calls were made between the accused and the victim’s family. According to the call logs accessed by Times Now, 100 phone calls were made from a phone number registered with the girl’s brother’s name between October 2019 and March 2020.
The 19-year-old’s brother was reportedly in contact with the accused. Malviya said the call logs open another front in the case. She added that this case could be the result of social enmity.
While talking to Times Now, Malviya added: “Was he (the teenager’s brother) having these conversations or was it someone else?” He said a proper investigation by both parties will reveal the nature of the talks. She said, “There is much more than meets the eye.”
Times Now’s Madhavdas G said the phone conversations took place between one of the girl’s family members and charged Sandeep. Some of the conversations lasted more than 15 minutes. While the call records have indicated a probable link between the accused and the victim’s family, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) investigating the case has not verified the same.
According to sources, the Uttar Pradesh Police did not rule out any possibility of the case. Since the details of the call have come to light, the girl’s brother could be called in for questioning, TN’s Amir Haque said.
