The statement also said: “The schedule for 219 additional suburban services is being prepared to reach 700 suburban services shortly.”
Meanwhile, all travelers allowed by the Maharashtra government have to follow social distancing rules and wear masks while boarding, alighting at train stations, and riding special suburban trains.
The western rail zone has also decided to put into operation 194 additional trains for people performing essential services as of October 15. In addition, the WR area has decided to resume air-conditioned trains in Mumbai suburban services. According to a railway official, initially a total of 10 air conditioning services (2 slow services – 1 DOWN between Mahalaxmi-Borivali and 1 UP between Borivali- Churchgate and 8 fast services- 4 DOWN between Churchgate-Virar and 4 UP between Virar-Churchgate) will work.
Previously, the Central Rail Zone increased Mumbai suburban train additional services to 453 existing services. The increase in the number will help Mumbaikars to travel following all the rules of social distancing at the time of covid-19.
