Central Railway adds 225 more suburban services for essential personnel, see full list


MUMBAI : To address physical distancing and avoid overcrowding ahead of the holiday season, Indian Railways Central Railway has added 225 more commuter services to the existing 481 as of October 19. Now, the central railroad will run 706 services for essential personnel every day starting Monday.

“CR will add 225 suburban services to the existing 481, making a total of 706 as of 10/19/2020 for staff as notified by the Government of Maharashtra and approved by the Ministry of Railways,” the tweet from Central Railway CPRO.

At the beginning of October 14, 28 additional services were added to the 453 existing services. “Central Railway currently operates 453 special suburban services for personnel as notified by the Government of Maharashtra. To maintain social distancing and avoid overcrowding, Ferrocarril Central has made the decision to increase the number of daily special suburban services from 453 to 481 as of October 15, 2020, ”states a press release from the Central Railroad.

All travelers traveling these routes have been instructed by the Maharashtra government to follow social distancing rules and wear masks when boarding and alighting at train stations.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra’s coronavirus count on October 16 increased to 15,76,062 with 11,447 new cases coming to light.

According to the state health official, Maharashtra also reported 306 deaths during the day, bringing the death toll to 41,502, it said.

A total of 13,885 patients were discharged, bringing the count of recovered persons to 13,44,368.

The number of active patients in the state is 1,89,715.

The city of Mumbai reported 1,823 cases during the day, bringing its overall case count to 2,38,544, while its death toll rose to 9,638 with 37 deaths reported on Friday.
