Earlier this month, the minister, in a virtual speech to teachers, had said that the board’s examinations will take place after February next year.
“The practical exams are usually held between January 1 and 15 while the exams are held between February 15 and mid-March. However, considering the current situation (the coronavirus pandemic), it is impossible to do the exams until the end of February. We will make a final decision on the dates of the exams as to when the exams will take place after February, “he had said.
The minister had also said that alternatives would be found for students unable to attend schools amid the pandemic to perform laboratory tests.
The CBSE had announced earlier this month that the board’s exams in 2021 will be conducted in written mode and not online.
Schools across the country were closed in March to contain the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. They were partially reopened in some states as of October 15.
However, some states have decided to keep them closed in light of an increase in the number of infections.
Board examinations had to be postponed to mid-March due to the pandemic. They were later canceled and the results announced on the basis of an alternative evaluation plan.
