Nagpur:
Maharashtra Interior Minister Anil Deshmukh on Sunday urged the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to reveal whether the death of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput was a suicide or murder.
He said the CBI should present its investigative report on the case as soon as possible.
“People in Maharashtra and the country are eagerly awaiting the CBI report on their investigation into the death case of Sushant Singh Rajput. People ask me about the status of the case … I ask the CBI to reveal whether it was a suicide or a murder, “Anil Deshmukh said at a press conference.
“It has been five to six months since the case was handed over to the CBI. Therefore, the agency must make its report public as soon as possible to clarify whether it was a suicide or a murder,” he added.
Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead in his apartment in Mumbai ‘s Bandra on June 14 this year.
Previously, the Mumbai police had filed an accidental death report and were investigating the matter.
On August 19, the Supreme Court had confirmed the transfer of an FIR, filed by Sushant Singh Rajput’s father in Patna against the girlfriend of actor Rhea Chakraborty and others for allegedly instigating his suicide, to the CBI.
The central agency had taken over the investigation from the Bihar police.
In October, the medical board of the New Delhi-based All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) had ruled out the murder for the death of Rajput, calling it “a case of hanging and death by suicide.”
