CBI says most of the reports attributed to it in the Sushant Singh Rajput case are not ‘credible’

In its first official statement issued since it took over the investigation last month into the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) said Thursday that details reported in various outlets about the agency’s investigation do not are “credible” or “based on facts”; but they are “speculative” in nature.

The agency said it is conducting an investigation into the Rajput’s death in a “systematic and professional” manner.

“Certain media reports attributed to the CBI investigation are speculative and not based on facts,” said CBI spokesman RK Gaur.

“It is reiterated that, as a matter of policy, CBI does not share details of the ongoing investigation. The CBI spokesperson or any member of the team has not shared any details of the investigation with the media. The details that are reported and attributed to CBI are not credible, ”he said.

“The media is requested to confirm the details of a CBI spokesperson before subpoenaing CBI,” he added.

In the past week, the agency has vetted a number of people, including Rajput’s girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty, her family members, as well as friends, staff, etc. of the late actor.

A 10-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) from CBI is currently stationed in Mumbai to investigate the circumstances in which Rajput was found dead in his apartment on June 14.

“We have not yet completed our investigations. Every day a lot of information comes out, mostly unverified, so we decided to issue a statement. The agency’s line of investigation is known only to officers. We will inform the court in question every time we have something, ”said an official who did not want to be named.
