The Directorate of Enforcement and the Central Bureau of Investigations should be sent to the borders to combat terrorists and infiltration at the borders, Maharashtra ruler Shiv Sena said in his latest attack on the BJP. Criticizing the use of water cannons against protesting farmers near Delhi in this cold snap hitting parts of northern India as “cruel”, the Sena also said the BJP is criticizing the Khalistan issue to start its ” politics “in Punjab.
“Our farmers are being treated as terrorists and attacked on the Delhi border while the terrorists are killing our soldiers on the Kashmir border. BJP wants to vitiate the atmosphere…. Khalistan is a closed chapter for which Indira Gandhi and General Arunkumar Vaidya gave their lives. BJP is now unnecessarily delving into the Khalistan issue. He wants to provoke the problem and start his politics in Punjab, ”the Saamana editorial said.
Farmers, mainly from Punjab and Haryana, have been protesting for the past five days and have gathered at the border between Haryana and Delhi because they are being denied entry to the national capital. Farmers are protesting against new farm laws that the Center says will bring about reforms. They fear the new law will allow companies to control prices and take away their guaranteed minimum profits.
Commenting on the use of central agencies by the ruling government in the Center to attack opposition-ruled states, the Sena said: “The ED and the IWC must have the opportunity to prove their worth. Every time the bullets don’t work. On the Delhi border, our farmers are called terrorists while the terrorists are entering the border of Kashmir and Ladakh. At those times, ED and CBI should be sent to the borders. No choice.”
The editorial published on Monday said the giant statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in Gujarat will shed tears over the treatment of farmers. He further added that the BJP is using all tools to destabilize the opponents’ government in all non-BJP-governed states, including Maharashtra, but the same “determination” is not seen while fighting the country’s enemies.
“Farmers are detained at the Delhi border. Since they are from Punjab, they are called terrorists and Khalistanis. The farmers are accused of rioting, attempted murder, etc. Seeing all this, the great statue of Sardar Patel must have shed tears, “he added.
