Yuva Sena, the youth wing of Shiv Sena, on Saturday urged the University Scholarships Commission (UGC) to cancel exams for students studying in the last year as well, due to COVID-19.

On Friday, Maharashtra Minister Uday Samant had said that only postgraduate and graduate seniors will appear for the final exams of the semester this year, while freshmen and sophomores will be promoted to the next class.

In a letter to the President of the UGC, Yuva Sena Secretary Varun Desai said: “Sir, we are facing an unprecedented situation in the form of COVID-19 and the entire nation has been closed for more than a month. While we have made the decision to cancel all exams except the one on final semester, the fate of the students who study in the last year is in balance “.

Further claiming that these students studying in the past year are under immense stress and pressure on how their exams will be conducted and if they pose a risk to their health, Sardesai said: “According to the instructions of the Leader of Shivsena and the Minister of the Maharashtra State Cabinet Aaditya Thackeray, we sincerely ask you to consider canceling the Final Semester exams as well. ”

Samant also said that freshmen and sophomores will receive grades and grades while being promoted to the next class.

The minister has said that in the case of two-year, four-year and five-year courses, students in the final semesters (that is, fourth, eighth and tenth semesters respectively) will appear for the exams.
