The SUV was hit by a powerful direct shot from Jasprit Bumrah
Cameron Green was added to Australia’s list of injury concerns when he was hit in the side of the head by a fierce direct attack from Jasprit Bumrah on the opening day of the warm-up match at SCG.
It was later confirmed that he was replaced from the party under concussion protocol and replaced by Patrick Rowe.
A statement from Cricket Australia said: “Green is being monitored by CA medical staff. An update on his condition will be made tomorrow.”
Throwing the first installment of his seventh lap, on his second spell of the day, Green caught the ball on the side of his head in pursuit as it exploded through his hands.
He immediately went to the ground and the referees called the medical staff immediately and the batters from India quickly showed concern. By the time the physical therapist and doctor reached the halfway point, Green was on his feet, but after a brief evaluation he left the ground.
Green’s hit follows Will Pucovski’s hit to the helmet in the previous warm-up game at Drummoyne Oval that left him with a mild concussion and in doubt for the opening test. Australia is already without David Warner at least during the Adelaide match due to his groin injury.
Green was pushing his claims for a test debut having made a century and taken two wickets in Australia A’s first game after a strong start to the season at the Sheffield Shield. He’s still limited to four more spells as he returns from bat stress fractures, but his hitting alone is a solid case for the pick.
He had previously made an excellent delivery by having Shubman Gill during his first spell.
