BJP President JP Nadda said Monday that the implementation of the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) was delayed due to the pandemic and that the law will be implemented soon.

Nadda was addressing party workers at a meeting in Siliguri, North Bengal, where she also criticized the West Bengal government for adopting a “divide and rule policy” and prevented the benefits of the Center’s schemes from reaching the people of the state.

“Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the implementation of CAA was delayed. However, as the general situation is slowly improving, rules are now being formulated. The CAA will be implemented very soon and all of you will reap the benefits of the law. We are committed to that, ”Nadda said.

The BJP president paid a one-day visit to the state to take stock of the party’s organizational preparations and strength ahead of the 2021 Assembly elections. During the visit, he held separate meetings with party leaders, parliamentarians, MLA and social and religious groups.

Addressing the state government, Nadda said: “Prime Minister Modi ji’s policy is inclusive and for the development of all. Our motto is Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas. On the other hand, the government of Mamata Banerjee believes in the idea of divide and conquer…. When the elections come, the state government makes efforts to unite them all by providing subsidies. But only Narendra Modi has the ability to take everyone with him. The BJP does what it promises to the people.

“Mamata didi prevented the benefits of Ayushman Bharat from the Center from reaching the poor people of the state. Unfortunately, the Mamata Banerjee government has not allowed PM-KISAN Samman Nidhi Yojana into West Bengal, ”he said.

“We assure you that if we come to power in Bengal, we will provide the blueprint for all farmers in the state. If you vote for the BJP in April, we will implement the schemes in a month, ”said Nadda.

He also expressed his confidence that the BJP will form the next government in the state.

Earlier in the day, Nadda paid floral tributes at the statue of Panchanan Barma at Noukaghat More near Siliguri. He also offered prayers at the Anandamoyee Kalibari Temple.

In response to Nadda’s comments, Trinamool Congress Member Derek O’Brien said in a statement: “The irony is not lost when the BJP chairman speaks of ‘divide and rule.’ “Divide and conquer” is a ploy learned from the colonial past and one that your party performs every day in a devious way. For the past six years, your party has done everything possible to ‘divide and rule’ the people of this great nation. Also, we did a fact check on his speech today. Like his other two “superior” colleagues, he had huge loopholes. But no, we will not desecrate this auspicious occasion. This is a special time for all of us in Bengal. Let’s keep it that way. “
