The latest news shows a Tesla Model S with a fully discharged battery charged by BYD Song, another electric vehicle, to help the first get to a battery charging station.

Running out of batteries is something all electric vehicle users fear. However, a recent incident that took place in China shows that this anxiety can be greatly reduced once we have enough electric vehicles hanging around.

BYD Song PRO DM, another EV, reportedly charged a Tesla Model S whose battery had completely run out of battery in China, so it can have enough juice to get to the nearest charging station. Model S is said to be being worn by a lady in a traditional qipao. He stopped and after a while, a BYD Song PRO DM with dealer plates stopped and offered him a charge.

However, it is important to mention here that vehicle-to-vehicle charging can only be done at a slow speed of approximately 2KW. Therefore, to receive enough charge to be able to get to the nearest charging station, the cars had to be connected for two hours.

The BYD Song PRO DM is a PHEV that features a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine that works in conjunction with an electric motor. The configuration has a combined power of 319 hp and 525 Nm. The battery has a power of 15.7 kWh and Song has an electric range of only 81 km. The song is also available in an electric-only variant, which offers a power of 184 hp.

What’s troubling is that many electric vehicle owners have yet to understand how battery packs work, especially the wealthy, who often have one of the family members pulling out the EV to drive without paying attention to the charge that contains the battery pack. Many apparently have not yet finished using gasoline and diesel vehicles.

However, we believe that a better analogy is to use electric vehicles as one uses your smartphone. Come to think of it, when was the last time your phone ran out of battery completely? We tend to plan their usage based on battery capacity and even make having high battery levels a point. Something similar should be practiced when using electric vehicles like the Tesla Model S that you see in the images.
