The incident was reported on Thursday when the Covid-19 vaccination campaign was taking place at the Primary Health Center in the Mandauli village of Kanpur.

While the Covid-19 vaccination campaign is in full swing across India, a shocking incident of neglect has come to light from Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh. Busy with her mobile phone, a nurse from the Mandauli Primary Health Center administered a double dose of the Covid-19 vaccine to a woman.

The incident generated an uproar in the center and the manager informed senior officials about the case.

The incident was reported on Thursday when the Covid-19 vaccination campaign was taking place at the Primary Health Center in Mandauli village of Kanpur Dehat, where Kamlesh Kumari from the village went to receive an injection.

An auxiliary nurse midwife (ANM), Archana, administered a dose of vaccine. Kumari was then briefly detained for surveillance and it was later alleged that the ANM gave her a double dose of the vaccine while talking on her mobile phone. Kumari alleged that he developed swelling in his hand and also experienced pain after the jab.

When Kamlesh Kumari asked if she had been given two injections, Archana reprimanded her instead of apologizing. The victim’s son said that due to the double dose of vaccination, his mother developed mild swelling in her hand, although no serious symptoms were reported.

The woman’s relatives complained about the incident to the Medical Director to avoid such negligent incidents in the near future. The victim has demanded action against such carelessness. An investigation has been launched in this regard.

So far 5.99,045 people have been cleared of Covid-19 infections in the state of Uttar Pradesh. A record of 3,49,22,434 Covid-19 tests have been performed.
