NEW DELHI: Ayodhya, Lord Ram’s birthplace will get bullet train connectivity. The Delhi-Varanasi corridor for which the detailed project report (DPR) is being prepared will also connect the holy city, Mathura, Prayagraj, Varanasi, Agra, Kanpur and Jewar airport.
According to National High Speed Rail Corporation Ltd (NHSRCL), which is preparing the DPR for this stretch, the 800 km corridor will also connect Etawah, Lucknow, Raebareli and Bhadohi.
Sources said this alignment will cover mixed terrain including densely populated urban and rural areas, highways, roads, ghats, rivers, green fields, making this activity more challenging.
The NHSRCL is implementing the Ahmedabad-Mumbai bullet train project.
He said that to prepare the DPR, the entity will deploy the technique of distance recognition and light detection (LiDAR) using a laser-enabled equipment mounted on a helicopter for ground reconnaissance. Until now, LiDAR technology has been used in the highway sector to finalize the alignment and to survey the terrain to obtain the exact details on the ground in the shortest possible time.
Aligning or surveying the terrain is a crucial activity for any linear infrastructure project, as surveying provides precise details of the areas around the alignment. This technique uses a combination of laser data, GPS data, flight parameters, and actual photographs to provide accurate survey data.
This technology has helped prepare better DPRs for highway projects and helped reduce the acquisition of the exact land for construction to zero.
LiDAR was also adopted for the Mumba-Ahmedabad high-speed rail corridor mainly due to its high precision. The ground survey with aerial LiDAR for this corridor was carried out in only 12 weeks compared to 10-12 months if it had been carried out using traditional survey methods.
