BSP in shock when five MLA rebels meet SP chief Akhilesh Yadav and 2 more are expected to join the bandwagon

Following a shakeup in the Rajya Sabha elections after five Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) lawmakers withdrew their support on Wednesday, the rebel MLA once again met with Samajwadi (SP) Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, which fueled speculation that they will join the party soon. The MLAs had previously met with the head of SP on Tuesday, a meeting organized by MLC Udayveer Singh.

It is also heard that two more BSP legislators may follow the example of the MLA rebels and join the party led by Akhilesh Yadav. However, neither party has yet issued an official statement in this regard.

Rebel servicemen Aslam Chaudhary, Aslam Rainee, Mujtaba Siddiqui, Hakim Lal Bind and Govind Jatav held a closed-door meeting with the supreme of the SP on Wednesday to seek tickets for the party. A day ago, Chaudhary’s wife had also joined the SP.

The Samajwadi Party had nominated Prakash Bajaj as an independent candidate, after which the vote for one seat was deemed fixed. However, after the BSP MLA withdrew their names as proponents, Bajaj’s victory is now considered almost certain.

The Election Commission had announced the last date for the submission of nominations for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections in Uttar Pradesh on October 27. Nomination documents will be reviewed one day after presentation. Legislators can withdraw their nominations no later than November 2, and voting will take place on November 9, from 9 am to 4 pm. Votes will be counted from 5:00 p.m. and the results will be declared the same day.

Earlier Tuesday, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidates collectively submitted their nomination papers for the Rajya Sabha elections. Prime Minister Yogi Adityanath, BJP State Chairman Swatantra Dev Singh, Senior Deputy Ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya and Dinesh Sharma, along with many other senior state government officials and ministers, were present as they presented the nominations.

So far, the BJP has officially submitted eight candidates, including Hardeep Singh Puri, Arun Singh, Haridwar Dubey, Brijlal, Neeraj Shekhar, Geeta Shakya, BL Verma, and Seema Dwivedi. The Samajwadi Party has redeployed Ram Gopal Yadav. The BSP, despite not having required numbers, has deployed Ramji Gautam.
