BSF Recovers Arms and Ammunition from Indo-Pak Border in Punjab | India News

AMRITSAR: Border security force (BSF) thwarted an attempt by Pakistani narco terrorists to infiltrate weapons and ammunition into India on Saturday morning.
According to an official statement, BSF stated that a patrol group in the area of responsibility of the 124 BSF Battalion deployed in the Abohar sector recovered 3 AK 47 rifles, 6 magazines, 91 7.62 mm cartridges, 2 M 16 rifles, 4 magazines, 57 5.56mm rounds, 2 Chinese-made pistols, 4 pistol magazines and 20 7.63mm rounds.
BSF sources reported that weapons and ammunition were found at least ten meters within Indian territory in a field in the village of Dona Mattar in Ferozpur district.
The sources expressed the possibility that the Pakistani traffickers had dropped the shipment of arms and ammunition, which were to be recovered by their Indian counterparts using at least one meter of cultivated rice.
“This is a huge shipment of weapons and ammunition that cannot be hidden and brought in from the other side of the border fence on a tractor, so there is a possibility that smugglers are waiting for the combine to break through the fence during the season. harvesting rice and hiding the shipment in a combine harvester to avoid the BSF ”, said sources, adding that the same was possible in October when the harvesters arrived in this part of Punjab to harvest.
“It seems that the smugglers were prepared since the weapons and ammunition were wrapped in a plastic sheet and a cloth to avoid any damage by moisture,” sources said.
“We are trying to unravel the mystery, but definitely the terrorists must have been thinking of something big,” the sources said, adding that no arrests have been made on the Indian side so far.
During this year, the BSF has recovered a total of 32, 57 and 650 weapons, magazines and cartridges of different types of weapons from the international border with Pakistan in Punjab.
