BSF finds cache of weapons near Indo-Pak border in Punjab’s Ferozepur district


The Border Security Force (BSF) on Saturday seized a cache of weapons and ammunition, including three AK-47s and two M-16s, from a field along the Indo-Pakistan border in Punjab’s Ferozepur district. .

During the operation, BSF personnel found weapons and ammunition from a bag that was abandoned in a field near Joginder Chowki, near the border at around 7:00 am, a BSF official said.

Six AK-47 magazines and 91 rounds, four M-16 rifle magazines and 57 rounds, two pistols with four magazines and 20 rounds along with the weapons were also recovered, he said.

Birbal Singh, the Lakho Ke Behram police station officer, said a BSF patrol team saw the weapons in a field near a border post in the morning. The area adjoins the zero line.

“The weapons were found carefully packed in plastic bags. The weapons were recovered from different parts of the field. No person has been appointed to the FIR and the preliminary investigation is underway, ”Singh said.

The weapons and ammunition were allegedly shipped by elements who wanted to destabilize the country from neighboring nations via Abohar in Punjab’s Ferozepur district, along the international border with Pakistan, authorities said.
