BS Yediyurappa won’t be CM for long, says Basanagouda Patil Yatnal; BJP rejects claim | Bengaluru News

VIJAYAPURA / BENGALURU: Senior BJP lawmaker and former Union Minister Basanagouda Patil Yatnal sparked a new leadership controversy on Tuesday, stating that Prime Minister BS Yediyurappa He will not remain in office for long and that the high command has decided that his successor will be from North Karnataka.
At a public function in the city of Vijayapura late Monday, Yatnal, representing the Vijayapura constituency in the assembly, accused Yediyurappa of neglecting northern Karnataka and carrying out all development work in his home district of Shivamogga. Videos of his statement have gone viral on social media.

The party dismissed his claims, and the BJP head of state emphasized that Yediyurappa will complete his term.
“… Rs 125 crore had come (for my constituency) as a special grant to Vijayapura City Corporation and we had plans to use the funds to develop cement roads (white hedge). But our own chief minister has withdrawn it and after that I fought with him and also complained to senior party officials about it, ”Yatnal said.
‘Next CM of N K’taka’
The CM is taking our funds to Shivamogga but I will not let them go, I am fighting for them and I will bring them back, ”Yatnal said.
Yatnal went on to say that the next top minister will be from North Karnataka as “95% of MLAs (in BJP)” are from the region and “between 10 and 15 come from other parts of the state.” He added: “So the people at the top (the BJP bosses) have also understood. It occurred to our prime minister that (Yediyurappa’s) successor should be from North Karnataka and now it is a matter of time. ”
Rejecting Yatnal’s claims, BJP National Secretary General CT Ravi said the top lawmaker has been known to make such “outlandish” statements. “I don’t know in what context Yatnal has said this. But, it is certain that Yediyurappa will continue as CM throughout the term, ”said CM MP deputy CN Ashwath Narayan.
