BS Yediyurappa launches mission to renew Bengaluru by 2022


Mission Bengaluru will emphasize the sustainable and comprehensive development of the city, the CM said.

Karnataka’s Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa launched ‘Mission Bengaluru 2022’ on Thursday, an initiative aimed at renovating amenities and infrastructure in the state capital. The mission has been chalked up after government analysis of the challenges citizens face and making Bengaluru city the best.

The primary focus of this mission will be in four areas: enabling faster travel by relieving traffic congestion, reestablishing Garden City’s reputation under Green Bengaluru, ensuring efficient and scientific waste management, and connecting with people through a unified digital platform. and creating spaces to show the culture, heritage and other specialties of the city is the essence of this mission.

Enable faster travel

The government said in a statement that traffic congestion in the city has multiplied over the past two decades, with nearly 8.45 lakh of vehicles registered in Bengaluru. The government plans to build better roads, encourage the use of public transport and accelerate the projects undertaken: the Namma metro and the suburban railway. The other major initiatives are the installation of synchronous traffic lights, the promotion of shared electric vehicle mobility and the expansion of priority bus lanes.

Swachcha Bangalore

Scientific waste management has been a long-standing problem due to the city’s growing population. The government intends to institutionalize the waste management system in which the system will be technologically driven ensuring efficient garbage collection and monitoring of the system. Under Namma Kasa, Namma Jawabdari (Our Waste, Our Responsibility), the government has said it will encourage residents to adopt a zero waste home concept. The government also added that the waste-to-energy plant at Bidadi by Karnataka PC is expected to be operational in two years.

Green bangalore

Under the Green Bengaluru Initiative, authorities will focus on creating clean canals and lakes. In addition, they aim to promote the use of recycled water in the next two years. In addition, the peripheral area will be preserved about 25 lakes throughout the city. The government will also focus on the development and popularization of two large tree parks and mini forests in Thurahalli, Kadugodi, JP Nagara and Mathikere. Finally, the lands of public sector units, such as Mysore Lamps, will be used to improve the green coverage of the city. The BBMP Sahaya, the civic body’s website and app where citizens can voice their complaints, will undergo reforms and instead create a unified digital platform to provide services, share information and address public complaints.
