Brothers in arms: When two pairs of brothers clashed in ODIs | Cricket news


NEW DELHI: When Krunal Pandya Receiving his ODI cap in the first game of India’s series against England in Pune on Tuesday, it became the fourth instance of two pairs of brothers playing in the same ODI on opposite sides.
Krunal (30) had his younger brother Hardik (27) batting at No. 6 for India. Meanwhile, England sent the Curran brothers: Tom (26) and Sam (22) out into the field.
Although Hardik was sent off 1, Krunal made a memorable ODI debut when he broke an undefeated 58-ball 31-ball. His 26-ball 50 also broke the record for the 50 fastest ODI ever scored. He now also holds the record for the best hit rate on ODI’s debut of 187.09 (for a minimum of 50 runs scored).
The Curran brothers were left without land at the entrances to India.
In the England chase, Krunal took a wicket while Hardik was not thrown. Sam curran he scored 12 and Tom hit 11 runs, as England were eliminated by 251 runs and lost the game by 66 runs.

Opening up the batting, Sadiq was fired by Kapil Dev for 1. Mushtaq was not required to hit as Pakistan chased the miserable goal of victory in just 16.5 overs.

The Waugh twins were among the most famous sibling pairs to ever play international cricket and both played a pivotal role in making Australia a cricket superpower during the 1990s and 2000s. Older brother Steve began his career as a middle pacer. But he became a fearless mid-level hitter who made up for his technical deficiencies with a brave and fearless hitting and emerged as one of the most successful hitters of his generation. He led Australia to the title at the 1999 ODI World Cup.

The Waugh twins played the Flower brothers from Zimbabwe in 10 ODI. Andy Flower was a goalie and a good hitter.
His younger brother Grant was a top hitter who used to throw occasional spins with his left arm.

The Hussey brothers of Australia faced the Akmal brothers of Pakistan in two consecutive ODI that the two teams played in the United Arab Emirates.
In the first match in Sharjah on August 28, 2012, Australia won by 4 wickets after bowling Pakistan for 198 runs. Umar hit 52, while Kamran scored 4 in that game. Michael and David were fired by 5 and 3 respectively.

The Akmal brothers were not required to hit, as Pakistan chased the target in 43.4 overs.
On Tuesday, brothers Pandya and Curran joined this list when they met in the first of three ODIs in Pune, which India won convincingly.
