Brisbane test in doubt as India refuses to accept strict quarantine protocols in Queensland

The fourth and final test between India and Australia starting January 15 in Brisbane, Queensland, is in serious doubt after the Indian team expressed reservations to travel to Queensland and follow the increase in quarantine restrictions. Due to new cases of community transmission reported in New South Wales, Queensland has closed its borders and teams from Australia and India are expected to travel to Queensland on a chartered flight.

This comes on the heels of five Indian cricketers reportedly bursting the biosecurity bubble in Melbourne. BCCI) is investigating a video showing five Indian cricketers Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant, Shubman Gill, Navdeep Saini, and Prithvi Shaw violating Cricket Australia’s biosecurity protocols. The five players are shown sitting inside the Secret Kitchen Noodles & BBQ restaurant in Melbourne when the permit is only for alfresco dining. Although players can eat outside, they must sit outside unlike Indian cricketers.

The gap in the restaurant becomes important especially after a recent increase in Covid-19 cases in Victoria, where Melbourne is located, and around Sydney in New South Wales, where the third Test will be played starting on January 7.
