The future groom came from a village in the Bareilly district, while the bride was from the Kannauj district. Both are postgraduates and the marriage was arranged with the approval of both parties. On Friday, the future wife and her family arrived in Bareilly for a grand wedding ceremony. Everything seemed perfect until things allegedly turned sour over an incident that took place, which upset the future bride. Some friends of the groom are said to have dragged the bride onto the dance floor, prompting a heated argument between the two parties.
Wedding canceled; the groom’s parents pay money for the arrangement
After the discussion that followed, the wedding was called off and the bride decided to go home. The bride’s family allegedly also filed a dowry complaint against the groom’s family, but the two parties reached an agreement. According to a report by The Times of India, The groom’s family agreed to pay Rs 6.5 lakh to the bride’s family.
“The wedding has been canceled. The woman’s family had filed a dowry complaint. No FIR was recorded as it is a problem between two families. They reached an agreement, ”a police officer said according to the report.
On Sunday, the groom’s family tried to convince the bride’s family to reorganize a simple ceremony to solemnize the marriage, but to no avail. The bride refused to marry because of “misconduct” inflicted on her.
Another incident
This comes nearly a week after a couple got married at a COVID-19 center in Rajasthan’s Shahbad, wearing personal protective equipment when the bride’s coronavirus test report came back positive on the wedding day. The wedding ceremony was carried out in accordance with COVID-19 protocols.
