BrahMos test: list of missiles that India has tested in the last two months

India on Sunday tested a naval version of the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile. The missile was fired from the indigenously built stealth destroyer, INS Chennai.

With the successful BrahMos test, India has now tested 11 missiles in a two-month period. The test launch of these missiles comes at a time when India is embroiled in a bitter dispute with China along the Royal Line of Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh. The clash also sparked clashes in Ladakh’s Galwan Valley in June in which 20 Indian soldiers were killed.

India has tested a new version of the BrahMos supersonic surface-to-surface cruise missile and the Rudram-1 anti-radiation missile. It has also tested Shaurya, which is a laser-guided anti-tank guided missile and a nuclear-capable hypersonic missile.

India has also deployed a considerable number of BrahMos supersonic missiles in LAC.

Here is a list of weapons and missile systems that India has tested in the last two months:

September 7th: The indigenous development hypersonic technology demonstrator vehicle (HSTDV), which is essential for powering cruise missiles and long-range missile systems, was tested off the coast of Odisha.

September 22:ABHYAS, high speed disposable aerial target (HEAT) vehicles, were tested off the coast of Odisha. These can be used as a target for the evaluation of various missile systems.

September 23: DRDO conducts fire tests of locally developed laser-guided anti-tank guided missiles in Ahmednagar, Maharashtra. It can be used to defeat “armored vehicles protected by explosive reactive armor (ERA),” according to DRDO.

September 23:Prithvi-II test fired from Balasore, Odisha. It is a locally developed nuclear-capable surface-to-surface missile that uses an advanced inertial guidance system with maneuver trajectory to reach its target, according to DRDO.

September 30th: Extended range of the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile tested at a land-based facility in Odisha.

October 1st: Laser Guided Anti-Tank Guided Missile (ATGM) fired from an MBT Arjun tank in Ahmednagar, Maharashtra.

October 3: India successfully tests a new version of the nuclear-capable Shaurya missile off the coast of Odisha.

October 5th: India develops anti-submarine warfare and successfully tests the locally developed SMART torpedo system that is essential for anti-submarine warfare (ASW) operations far beyond the range of torpedoes.

October 10th: India successfully tested the Rudram-1, its first indigenous anti-radiation missile that can detect enemy radars on the ground.

October 18: A naval version of the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile fired from the Indian-built INS Chennai stealth destroyer.
