BrahMos missile test fired by Indian Navy stealth destroyer hits target

On Sunday, India successfully launched the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile from the Navy-built stealth destroyer, the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) said in a statement.

The missile that was fired from INS Chennai in the Arabian Sea successfully hit the target with pinpoint accuracy after performing extremely complex and high-level maneuvers.

BrahMos as a ‘primary strike weapon’ will ensure the invincibility of the warship when attacking naval surface targets at long distances, thus turning the destroyer into another lethal platform for the Indian Navy, the DRDO said.

The highly versatile BrahMos has been jointly designed, developed and produced by India and Russia.
