The improved version of BrahMos with an impact range of almost 450 km, which has been successfully tested three to four times, is on track to be operational soon. Plans are also underway for India and Russia to test an even longer version of BrahMos, with a range of 800km, by the middle of next year, as previously reported by TOI.
The armed forces have installed the missile in large numbers over the years, with contracts worth more than 36 billion rupees already signed so far. BrahMos missile batteries have also been deployed in Ladakh and Arunachal Pradesh as part of the operational readiness posture against China.
