Snapchat conversation
Among the various screenshots shared across multiple social media platforms, there is a screenshot of an individual Snapchat conversation, where a person named ‘Siddharth’ suggests an aggravated sexual assault plan from one girl to another person.
A police investigation revealed that the alleged Snapchat conversation is actually between a girl (sender) and a boy (receiver) in which the girl sends chat messages through a fictitious Snapchat account called ‘Siddharth’.
“Using the false identity of a male person, the girl suggested in the chat, a plan to sexually assault herself. The purpose of sending such chat messages using a fictitious and false identity was to verify the recipient boy’s reaction and force of her character, especially when someone speaks ill of the girl. The recipient, also a minor, refused to participate in any plans suggested by “Siddharth” and stopped communication with “him,” Delhi police said.
The boy then took a screenshot of the chat and reported it to his friends, including the girl about whom the hypothetical sexual assault conversation took place. The girl, aware of the fact that the ‘Siddharth’ account suggesting her sexual assault was false, created by herself, did not report it to anyone.
However, one of the other recipients of the screenshot posted it as an Instagram story for some time, from where it started circulating on the connected social media accounts of friends, schoolmates, etc.
When the “Bois Locker Room” Instagram screenshots were revealed to others and began to circulate on social media, the alleged Snapchat conversation was also mixed with it due to its sensational nature and its availability to different groups of students.
Police said efforts are being made to identify and question the remaining members of the group. Police said the broker shared partial information about three Instagram accounts.
